At Ichigo’s house an Arrancar shows up named Asguiaro Ebern. Ichigo and Ebern fight the fight does not last long and just before being killed Ebern escapes to report to his leader. Considering that Ebern gets billing at the introduction of the story and a fancy introduction to Ichigo it is rather surprising (spoilers!) when he is killed by his boss. It is also interesting the Ebern uses a Quincy type weapon.

There is an attack on the Soul Society Leader in his private office and Genryusai Shigenkuni Yamamoto puts the Soul Society on alert and ready for war. Later while Ichigo is out on patrol he is met or should I say crashed into by Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck and soon after by Pesche. It turns out that Hueco Mundo was attacked by an army and needed help.
